The Battle

The Battle

A Poem by DarkPoet

Happiness is the foreigner seeking a place on my land
Where gloom has its foundation rooted underground
Both constantly engage in a fierce battle
For my land's leadership mantle
In my hands lies the decisive power
Still i stay watching like a helpless onlooker
Gaiety promises new pleasant experiences
Ennui declares that nothing will be new or different
Ennui is an integral part of me
but in gaiety's light i just might see
They beckon me to make a decision
Carefully i need to decide with precision
In glooms hard hold i feel at home
With gaiety's lighting my path i can freely roam
I prefer none of both to the other
Life is filled with boon and bane in no specific order
If i am to choose with a gun to my head
You will find me in the light of the darkness i dread
