I have a secret that nobody knows
Frequently to our past my mind goes
To the promise we will be together
To depart will be a thing of never

Empty is the smile i now wear
Because to me very dear you were

Now i secretly cry those silent tears
I can't explain how our love could bring great pain
I wish you were here to calm my fears
And we had a lot from our love to gain

The memories of you are so hurtful
Because our time together beautiful

But without you i am not strong

But i am trapped in misery
I cannot love life on my own
I spend days longing for you when I'm alone

Your love was sweet and wicked
Yet to it i am heavily addicted
When i seat to count our love's gain
I realise our Love was nothing but a disguised pain

The last verse shows insight, but the previous ones indicate the speaker is still hooked. It is possible growth may occur as a result of this relationship, but I fear much pain will precede that outcome.
