You used to protect me from those nightmares I had

You used to come in at night so I wouldn’t be sad

But your new life is important, so you don’t care

Don’t think badly of me if I start to cry

I love you, you know, even if you don’t believe

No matter how cold I act, I don’t want you to leave.

 

Author's Note

My dad showed me this song a few months ago, he said it reminded him of me. It's called "Silent Lucidity" by Queensryche, and it's really the only song by them that I like. I used to have nightmares almost every night as a kid, and a lot of the time it was my mom that came into the room, but when dad came to help me, if mom was working late, we'd stay up and a lot of the time, since I woke up screaming, he'd come into my room with a bat and this LOOK on his face that still makes me laugh. He's moving away now though, over six hundred miles, and i'm really getting tired of writing these kinds of poems- I guess I just didn't realize how much it was going to hurt. He told me he doesn't think I love him enough, and all these other things and... What more can I give?

God, i miss you.

Awe, I am so sorry bout your dad moving away. Dont believe him!! You do love him enough! (men dont know how to properly express themselves at times and instead of owning up to their own choices do their best to shrug them off on the shoulders of others)
As to the poem....very sad, and made me want to cry.
