Switch Worlds Again

Switch Worlds Again

A Poem by Marlena

I sleep

spin, colliding into thin

membranous shields

meant to be broken.

I spin

twirl and dance and run

so quickly it is unseen

as things seen around

change in shape and form

scenery, places, people

living breathing

hearts beating

they are real

they are real

I wake

in the place I did not fall

to sleep in before.

Energy taken to make

such a drastic change,

but it's all right

it's all right.

I raise a hand

I stand

quavering and shivering, awake but still asleep

this place is not new, but it is not my home

this place is a second home

for the heart for the soul

this place is where I belong.

I'm not where you think I am

I've switched worlds again.
