She Would Change

She can take the pain you don't even understand

she used to live by command and freedom drove her insane

she was told what to do even if she knew

but defiance formed over the years she grew

and hit after hit, move after move

she knew she had absolutely nothing left to prove

but she had to, to him

she had to so maybe she could be loved again,

so she fought and she tried even after her freedom was given

and deep down she knew it didn't matter, not how much she was driven

she could never be loved by him, not the way she was

so she set out to change, because

all she could see were her flaws.

 

So she changed and she still wasn't loved

people pulled at her, they pushed and shoved

and nothing really changed, on the outside, yes

but on the inside she was still the same girl, and no one cared less

so she changed again and she finally became something new

and after a life of being let down and pushed around,

she finally found you.
