Wyvern

Wyvern

A Poem by Marlena
"

...It waits for the rest as the sun begins to set.

"

It stands

Wings furling and unfurling rhythmically

hovering over the edge of the earth

black eyes surveying the red skies

and contemplating it's own worth.

Claws itch into the ground

it's neck craned down

black ink skin and scales to match

the only of its kind around

it waits for the rest

as the sun begins to set

and blood clouds curdle along the horizon

it will wait in it's loneliness for it family to come

in silence it will wonder what it will become

depression lingers in the air

it will be swallowed up by despair

and it will wait for it to not be the only one

when in the end, it knows what it will become.
