Washing Away in the Tides

Washing Away in the Tides

A Poem by Marlena
"

Wash away all the darkness weighing me down.

"

Let the water overflow

let it wash me away

take the bad stuff with it

all this darkness weighing me down

I can't breathe but this is bliss

Just me, the waves and a smile I'll remember

While waves move back and forth

I'll wiggle free of the chains around me

But.....

When I return to the surface

and the water's turning black around me

Will you recognize me, when I'm me again?

Or will you walk away,

glaring down at the shadows in the moonlight

at the half dirty thing in the water

in disguist

Will you run?

Or will you jump in and save me from the surrounding darkness?

This is so philosophical to me....is it the inner you shaking free of the everday mask imposed to protect yourself from the world, is it the inner child soiled by hurt.....so many other options, could be a cry for help to your friends, will they recognize the you that you are once you wash away all these other things, will they pull you out of the water, or let you float out to sea....lost forever in the tide.....

great job creating a deeply moving question....i will be thinking about this for awhile.....finding what it means to me and how much it applies to everyday life!

sorry, didn't mean to write a book about it!:)
