Beautiful (Not) Light

Beautiful (Not) Light

A Poem by Marlena
"

She comes from the dark side of the sun to tell us morning has finally begun.

"

She comes from the dark side of the sun

to tell us morning has finally begun....

Her cries are beautiful

her dreams are wild

in the morning she sings.

Songs of passion and loyalty betray her

she grieves for the living

no mercy for the dead

she wears dresses of silk and fine lace

she takes timid steps with daring red eyes

she praises the moon

she dances in the night

she points with delicate, steady fingers

she whispers sweet lullabies to the wind.

the epitome of light

the destruction of the day

bringer of tomorrow

forsaken from darkness

she'll dance tonight

she'll sing when the morning comes

to let us know we're still alive.

The epitome of darkness

forsaken from the light

she will open her wings

and take flight.

I love the contrast between the light in this girl and darkness.

I agree. Vivid images. Really captures the escense of morning, brings image of an enchantress. Hypnotic in its sort of dancing pagan kind of way...

The imagry is fabulous...(have you read American Gods by Neil Gaiman? this made me think of one of the mythological stories in this book, the idea that there are 3 sisters who hold each day...one has morning, one has afternoon, one has night) This would be the sister of the morning....i could see her so vividly through the lines.....
You know i love it! wish i could give some contructive critizim but have nothing to suggest or offer!
