The Nightmare Begins

The Nightmare Begins

A Poem by Marlena

In the depths of a nightmare

embedded in my farthest memories

visions that are fake, I'm aware

But so realistic, so they seem

voices of people, facial expressions too

I look up to you,

but the eyes I know and love are gone,

you vanish from my side and screaming,

I wake before the dawn

only to sleep again

only to dream of losing you,

while hearts stop beating, I scream for you and then-

the nightmare ends.

Author's Note

Marlena
........I hate nightmares. Especially when I wake up, realize it was just a dream and end up crying myself back to sleep- only to have the nightmare pick up where it left off. I might write a story based on that concept, but....Well, let me know what you think.

I know how nightmares end up. I once had a nightmare about my significant other being shot by this kid at school who wanted to fight him... not really fun to hae.. Good writing though

A bit trivial, not expressional enough for such a wide theme, more work couldbe done here, but well written, emotional and with a deep meaning.
Thank you very much!

You have described a nightmare perfectly , I hate the way a nightmare lingers on even until the next day sometimes.Great job!

I hate nightmares as well, you put into words the very essence of the nightmare itself! I got chills remembering my own horrors...
Well written, very expressive. You continue to amaze me with the depth of your writing! Keep up the great work....

I like it. You portray the unconscious imagery in a very vivid event. It clear that this is the episode of a nightmare all the way through.

"I wake before the dawn
only to sleep again
only to dream of losing you"

Nice touch. Well written.
