You Don't Own Me

You Don't Own Me

A Poem by Marlena
"

You don't own me anymore, I'm not afraid of you.

"

I want to be like him,

Tall and proud and stronger than you are

While my vision is growing dim

I see the light

I see him.

There's always a light, even in this dark night.

Shut up and leave me alone

you can't control me

you have no hold on me

despite what you think you see

Shut up- for the last time

you've pushed me down but I can stand the climb

Together we can do this.

I'm stronger than you know

and when my strength returns I'll make you beg

But for now here's how it'll go

When I get strong again you better run

because ripping out your heart

means I've only just begun.

Another one of those poems for when you're feeling down. Also slightly sappish, but I love this XD Let me know what you think!

A little strange and confusing. I think I get it but it took a minute. Great wording though, I will give you that.

this poem made me laugh, it reminds me of what I normally think about when I'm down. I also like the part that says "I want to be like him, tall and proud and stronger than you are" I think that its something that we all want and try to be.
