Mind's Horizon

Mind's Horizon

A Poem by DeleVan Sonta-an DellErba
"

apathy versus conviction....a battle all of us face

"

I see the dawn; rising sun on the horizon of your mind,

In time with the stars bind on the line of your history,

A story unfolding in His palm,

Never clenched, always embalmed by fate.

You hate to love your enemies and give your power away,

You stray from the righteous road and stay in your apathetic mode.

You are scarred in the tar of your past,

Stuck with feathers of fancies shredded in the winds,

A marred testimony of the torture you are in.

You are secretly courageous,

A tortoise in the shell of hell waiting to bust through and tell the world,

“This is NOT reality!”

Friend, I do see the bright light in your eyes,

The blossoming iris windowing your soul,

Yet the lull of your tongue strikes a dual nature in you,

A convicted demon-slayer,

A constricted soothsayer.

I see your demise yet know your loved ones sighs

And their many tries will eventually wear on you.

Be strong young one, the world needs you to be in your destiny.

Give your heart the start it needs to freely love the hearts that bleed.

This is a powerful piece. For me it speaks of the road that many walk, where reality is homespun, like a sweater from a spinning wheel. It consists of many threads, but they are self created. While the sweater can keep one warm, it hides the reality behind it. These words speak to those that have lay hidden behind that sweater for to long and have the need to take that reflective step back, find the source of the spinning wheel's efforts and begin anew, walking a path where the only need is walk with their naked soul, not one that is veiled.
The piece also seems to foreshadow the future of one who has over come the spun threads, as if there is a road they know they must walk and must find their true self, in order to walk it in the way they know is right.

Fantastic Words!

I esp like these lines:

A tortoise in the shell of hell waiting to bust through and tell the world,

“This is NOT reality!”

What profound words that speak into the mind and heart... a vision that lays bare a soul and moves one beyond self to a depth of love for others. Powerful!
