The Night DancerA Poem by DeleVan Sonta-an DellErbaWho is "he"? Good question. He is the mysterious artistic soul you can never catch. But you must look him right in the eye to know him.
A sorrowing dancer goes into the night,
A lone figure in the shadow's deep misery, His twisting body finding might, In thorny branches of his memory. I seek to follow his footsteps in the dark, Where they lead him, why there? He hungrily weeps in his heart, A thousand tears fall, but who will care? Trembling like a child my hands find the light, Caressing white spirits in still, lucid air, This light chokes the darkness, pierces the night, Finds a home in the dancer's burning stare.
