Lucid Dream

Lucid Dream

A Poem by Sophia Marie

Will it last, the shimmer of a diamond,

will it remain cold, shining forth,

in the glow of the world's loss...

Can we still continue our forward motion

if the forces of will

shut the door to our future?

I dreamt last night of empty deserts,

hiding myself along open barren roads,

fearing discovery from something unknown.

Still I think back, but can't place

my finger on the source of evil

that drove me into hiding on cold worn roads.

The world seemed changed, but something worse

loomed on the long stretching horizon,

like a gunshot not fired, a blaze about to light.

I fear these cold memories, that linger,

how vivid, they stick to the inside of my skull;

now unable to shake off this worry

of what is to come, with the end of everything we know.

Wonderful write.
Enjoyed the whole poem.
However,the following stanza impressed me.
'The world seemed changed, but something worse
loomed on the long stretching horizon,
like a gunshot not fired, a blaze about to light.'
