The Runner

The Runner

A Poem by Sonya

Stepping gently into the cool spring air

Her veins weighed down by defeat

With perhaps a desire to burn the despair

This was a quest she must meet

As the internal heart burned

It became the outer of her world

Movement became faster as her planet began to glow

The droplets that drenched her body

Were the tears of her triumph

Don’t stop me she whispered inside

She felt a lightness on her feet

As she stepped on the iciness of the earth

The victory was moving throughout

That forever changed the internal

Of what had been inside

lovely hints of alliteration and imagery, and nicely penned message of perseverance

This is awesome.
Iciness of the earth, tears of triumph
So many great images here
I've never been good at running, but my brother and sister were both champion cross country runners
They always told me running is 100% in your head
Not stopping when you think you're all out
I always found it inspiring
That's kind of what I get from this poem, how it changes the mindset and that invincible feeling makes everything else more in focus
At least I think
Great read either way
