A FishA Poem by Scarlet LetterAn old poem of mine I found the other day.Swimming 'round and 'round, Walls off glass encase it from the world, Able to look out, Never able to leave, Foolishly searching for an exit. Constantly drowning without realization, Reaching for a breath of air, Knowing it could lead to death. Scraps are tossed on the surface, It eats-- And resumes its swimming, Safe in its little box. 'Round and round, Slowly going insane. Nothing can cause it harm No surprises, Nothing out of the ordinary, Alone... It watches the world from afar Unable to live in it, Not actually apart of it. This is its life This is my life I am a fish. © 2010 Scarlet LetterReviews
