Death From WithinA Poem by Scarlet LetterLove is giving someone the power to destroy you...but trusting them not to.
The winds of change blow through me
Like an icy talon Turning my heart to stone. The feelings that once were Have darkened Like the blackest rose. We always said forever I guess that was a lie. My hand is empty, My bed is cold, These lips that once Were warm with yours Are now barren and bitter. My soul is vacant Of the presence of you. Your neglect has shattered my joy And stolen my hope for tomorrow. This is not how love should be You promised so much more. You took my life And now I have nothing. So I will just lay here Gasping for air Waiting for the day When my body Catches up with my heart.
