GuardedA Poem by Scarlet LetterAn old poem of mine
An impenetrable castle
A mighty fortress An eminent stone wall A heavily guarded prison Hidden from view Disguised with a smile Dismissed with a shrug A cloak hides the tears Constantly burning Coursing through your veins A shadow of your old self No one knows you anymore Buried in your loss of innocence You try to hide your face Running from everyone and yourself Searching for a hope that's tucked away Searching for peace Begging for comfort Aching for a light Anyone to pull you out Did anybody hear you? Did anyone try to understand? You're dreaming with a broken heart Please, somebody help © 2010 Scarlet Letter |
