Act It away

A Poem by SonOfaSailor
"

Are you on stage today?

"
Life on stage,
Brain fogged in plays,
The best actors are always ashamed.

I love this, and I've added it to my library! It's short, but that doesn't detract from its power; it remains poignant. It reminds me of a friend of mine (he's one of those thespian types ;-) ) It's a subtle little poem; I find it quite charming. It could be a commentary on the acting profession and the way actors must become utterly enveloped in their characters (and in the play itself). I interpreted it that way due to the line: "Brain fogged in plays". Alternatively, one could interpret it on a much more vast scale, as a commentary on society - somewhat like "All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players" in As You Like It? I also appreciate the implications of the last line. This demonstrates a lot of talent, I look forward to reading more of your poetry!
