Anticipation

Anticipation

A Poem by Somber Eyes

Ninety thousand miles away
At least that's what it seems
I'll never see you in the flesh
Only in my dreams
Every time I extend my hand
You always disappear
I don't want to hear the truth
That you were never here

I don't know where you are right now
I don't know where you've been
I know that we will meet someday
I just don't know when
On that day, you'll take my hand
And you'll wrap your arms around me
Life will be everything I'd hoped for
All I knew that it could be

With you standing by my side
I can do most anything
I'm supported by the love
That only you could bring

I wish I didn't have to wait
I'm not the patient kind
It hurts without you in my life
With you only in my mind
But I know that when we meet
It will take the pain away
So it's with great anticipation
That I look forward to that day
