Unreconciled Insecurity

Unreconciled Insecurity

A Poem by Somber Eyes

It doesn't matter what I say
You're going to do what you want anyway
You don't listen when I try to plead my case
You just scream at me to get out of your face

Now I stand alone again
It's another fight that nobody wins
Just one more battle, and we boldly cross the line
Somehow, I know that this will be the final time

You draw your sword and strike at me
Filled with rage, it's all you see
You will not listen to reason
You charge me with emotional treason

You're convinced I'm looking for more
And that I'm rotten to the core
I can't make you believe what's true
That my heart belongs to only you

In this world, you're all I see
You're the star in my fantasies
When I daydream, it's of you
It doesn't matter what we do

As long as we spend time together
I'll belong to you forever
In this life, you're my only guide
I want you always by my side

But these words fall on deaf ears
You can't overcome your fears
And so you see what is not there
And convince yourself that I don't care

I wish that I could make you see
You're the only one for me
But you won't listen to what I say
You turn your back and walk away
