ReunionA Poem by Somber Eyes
I'm waiting anxiously as a warm breeze passes by
My vision fades away as your hands cover my eyes You whisper softly in my ear just two words -- "Guess who" But I still recognize your voice, I know that it's you Time may have passed, but I did not forget The memories did not fade to black after you left The memories are still as strong today As they were before you went away I stand up, turn around, and pull you in so close I hold you tightly in my arms like I'll never let go I didn't know if I would ever see your face again But here you are, like nothing's changed, it's good to see you, my friend We sit and talk into the night, reminiscing old times And how we were so close back then, but we never crossed the line The line between friendship and more, we stayed on the "friends" side But now that fate has brought you back, my feelings will no longer hide We say we need to get some sleep, but I'm not really tired In fact, with you here next to me, I'm actually quite wired I've got this nervous energy coursing through my veins And the look in your eyes tells me that you feel the same I look into your eyes as I lean close, and then we kiss With my hand touching your neck, I feel your pulse in my fingertips It feels so natural, I wonder why we never did this before The time was wrong, but now's the time we go from "friends" to "more" We lie together on the couch, exchanging gentle caresses Soft fingertips and kisses tingling all of our senses Nothing is spoken, no words are needed, as we both think of forever As we see the sun rise, we both close our eyes, and we fall asleep together © 2012 Somber Eyes |
