Laugh Out Loud

Laugh Out Loud

A Poem by Somber Eyes

When I woke this morning
Words were spinning 'round my head
So I grabbed some paper and a pen
And I wrote down what they said

You know, I didn't read them back
Not until it was complete
When I saw what the words spelled out
I laughed at the absurdity

They said this great big ball
That all of us are living on
Will one day see lasting peace
That everyone will rest their guns
I couldn't help but laugh out loud

They said everyone's complaining
But someday, the world will unify
Yeah, sure, we've heard it all before
But nobody even wants to try

When everything is based on greed
And he who dies with the most toys wins
When we've got to be politically correct
And I'm walking on needles and pins
Then I can't help but laugh out loud
Oh yeah, I can't help but laugh out loud

It's been 10,000 years
Humans are young and restless
And they still have many fears
I guess some things will last forever
Forever

And now I look out my window
I see pollution rain from the sky
We poison Earth, we poison ourselves
And through it all, nobody asks why

Standing in your haz-mat suit
You need to wear a mask to breathe
And every single human being
Has got some sort of disease
I can't help but laugh out loud
Oh yeah, I can't help but laugh out loud
I'm standing here, laughing out loud
Oh yeah, I'm going to laugh out loud
I'm laughing
I'm laughing out loud
