Skid Row

Skid Row

A Poem by Somber Eyes
"

This is just a fun little poem using some of the song titles from Skid Row's first two albums (remember them?). For the Megadeth fans, yes, this was inspired by MD's "Victory".

"

Sometimes I feel like it's 18 And Life
Locked behind bars in total isolation
I Remember You, but you've forgotten me
Not important enough for mental implantation

I sit here In A Darkened Room
No light, no sound, pure nothingness
I'm slowly filled with doom and gloom
Eternal feelings of worthlessness

Days, months, years... Is it all just Wasted Time
I've been Makin' A Mess since I found out your love was fake
Was that time wasted, writing down all these words
Writing it out 'cause I Can't Stand The Heartache

At the hour of Midnight/Tornado approaches
Sweet Little Sister descends from the sky
Into my space, the wind now encroaches
Is this how it ends, is this how I will die

I used to think I was Youth Gone Wild
Now Here I Am and I can't help but laugh
The Threat of maturity was carried out
And now I'm the one reading the Riot Act

I admonish the youngsters for their Monkey Business
As I spend my days just a Slave To The Grind
I'm still not quite sure how this came to be
But in life, there is no button for rewind

Many years ago, I lost the best Piece Of Me
Now it feels like I'm Livin' On A Chain Gang
With Big Guns preventing me from running off
Mediocrity is where my boots hang
