A Poem by Somber Eyes

When I think of the time
That you used to be mine
No more tears are shed
And I will not carve one more line

The razor's been replaced
And when I think of your face
It's fuzzy, out of focus
The detail's been erased

When I think of us
I will no longer cuss
There is no passion left
There's no need to make a fuss

When the night comes to a close
And you take off your pantyhose
Don't bother denying what you are
Everybody already knows

When you crawl into your bed
And feel the thumping in your head
It's time to leave the clubs behind
And stay home with a book instead

If you need someone to understand
If you need someone to lend a hand
Don't even think to look my way
Because I am not your man

When I heard you were a bride
I felt nothing at all inside
There is no more emotion
It left with the ebbing tide

When I heard that you gave birth
I was not filled with mirth
Nor did I exhibit gloom
Of emotion, there was a dearth

I do not wish you harm
Or wish that you'd "buy the farm"
Those feelings have all faded
Like the cuts upon my arm

But if you should somehow die
I won't break down and cry
I will not shed a single tear
My eyes will remain dry
