In the Darkness

In the Darkness

A Poem by Somber Eyes

In the darkness, I'm crying out
In the darkness, I shed a tear
In the darkness, I fall to my knees
In the darkness, I'm consumed by my fear
In the darkness, I don't know where you are
But even in darkness, I know you're not near
In the darkness, I'm calling your name
But I'm too far away for you ever to hear

In the darkness, I can't see a thing
In the darkness, I am all alone
In the darkness, depression sets in
In the darkness, my heart sinks like a stone
In the darkness, my thoughts fade to black
And I feel my old scars as they open anew
In the darkness, sadness surrounds me
As I'm haunted by all of my memories of you

In the darkness, I don't see a light
In the darkness, I don't see a way out
In the darkness, I'm trapped in a cage
In the darkness, I'm trapped by self-doubt
In the darkness, time stands still
And I'm trapped in that moment when you broke my heart
In the darkness, I try to move on
But my heart stopped beating when you ripped it apart
