Broken

Broken

A Poem by Somber Eyes

A stranger calls to me
Calling to set me free
From the chains that weigh me down
And keep me on the ground

Her eyes are glistening
And her tears are starting to sting
A tear drops from her eye
She can't help but cry

She's begging me to stop
But there's still time on the clock
And it's out of my control
I lost it long ago

I'm broken
I'm broken
There's no use hoping
Things won't get better
Not for me
It's so easy to see
I'm broken

How did it get this way
I used to laugh and play
But then life cast a pall
Spreading darkness over all

Shrouded in misery
There is no joy for me
Everything I do is wrong
Life will be better when I'm gone

I'm sorry if I caused you pain
I'm sorry if I ruined your day
I'm sorry for all I couldn't do
I'm sorry if I disappointed you

I'm broken
I'm broken
There's no use hoping
Things won't get better
Not for me
I'm broken
So broken
There's no use hoping
Things won't get better
Not for me
It's so easy to see
That I'm drowning in misery
And my life's just a tragedy
I'm broken
I'm broken

How much longer can I wait
I'm afraid it's far too late
I want to cry for help
But who could I tell
I'm broken
