Midnight Rain

Midnight Rain

A Poem by Somber Eyes

I'm sitting here banging my head against the wall
I'm trying so hard to make sense of it all
But logic has no place in a world that's filled with pain
Now I'm drowning in my sorrows in the midnight rain

Every night the sadness eats away at my soul
I tried to bury it, but it won't stay in that hole
I tried to wash away the sorrow, wash away the stain
I tried to wash it all away in the midnight rain

The midnight rain can't cleanse my wretched soul
The midnight rain can't heal my broken heart
The midnight rain can't give me back the wasted years
But maybe the midnight rain can give me a new start

Staring at the stars underneath the pale moonlight
It all becomes clear to me in the dead of the night
If I want to find a new love and be happy again
I've got to leave the past behind me in the midnight rain

I'll take the times that I was hurt and forget them today
I'll take all of my sadness and just throw it all away
I'll take all of my tears and I will flush them down the drain
And then I will be reborn in the midnight rain
