Yesterday's Child

Yesterday's Child

A Poem by Somber Eyes

Yesterday's child, tomorrow's w***e

Instead of love, she was shown the door

A selfish mother with empty heart

Left her, ripped her world apart

A b*****d child all alone

Lived in a house, but not a home

Every night filled with silent cries

Borne of the hate in grandmother's eyes

Grandmothers should be caring and nice

But this one was as cold as ice

Still the child had nowhere to turn

So the loveless hate is all she learned

Many times she ran away

That house was not where she wanted to stay

But every time, she'd end up back

Within grandmother's heartless grasp

Then grandmother called the State

And sealed the child's mournful fate

Abandoned by all family

There was no love for her to see

Now seeking love in the eyes of a stranger

Each night filled with constant danger

Desperate for a place to call home

Desperate for love that never was shown
