Taken For Granted

Taken For Granted

A Poem by Somber Eyes

Of all the things that we take for granted

Time will always top the list

We act like we will live forever

Like we'll always have more time than this

We always think that we'll have another chance

So we rarely say how we really feel

And we rarely show love in a meaningful way

Until the final curtain is revealed

Dream as if you'll live forever

But live as if you'll die today

Because we never know who will see tomorrow

Or what lies behind the hand of fate

Don't put off until tomorrow

What you should say or do today

Don't hold back because of what someone might think

Or let fears and insecurities get in the way

Tell people how you feel about them

Tell them what they mean to you

Tell them now while you still have the time

Don't wait until the time is through

Don't assume that you'll have tomorrow

Because tomorrow may never show

And don't leave with so much unsaid

When it is your time to go
