History

History

A Poem by Somber Eyes

All those times you said that you'd be there in my life

But now I turn around and you're nowhere in sight

Where are you? Where'd you go?

Tell me now, I don't know

Tell me why did you leave

Walked away without me

A month before you left, you said things would get better

And then you packed your things, grabbed a knife, cut the tether

Now I'm falling so fast

And you just turn your back

Nothing to stop my fall

There's no one there at all

I didn't see this coming, though the clues were all there

But still I turned my head because I thought you cared

Don't think I can move on

When all I know is gone

But I know I must try

I won't give in and die

I thought I could trust you, but I guess that I was wrong

Because when I turned around, you weren't there, you were gone

I used to love you so

How could I? I don't know

I was blind to your lies

Until you said goodbye

Now it's time to forget all those things that you said

Can't tell truth from the lies, rid it all from my head

Better off without you

The things you put me through

The times you made me cry

And wish that I would die

You left me here broken-hearted

Now I wish we never started

You couldn't give me honesty

Wish I could erase our history
