Regret

Regret

A Poem by Somber Eyes

I look you in the face and I don't like what I see

A mountain of contempt amidst uncertainty

Then you open up your mouth, the poison starts to spill

It seeps into my blood and it's making me ill

I didn't see this coming, I knew things had gotten rough

But I didn't think you'd quit, never thought that you'd give up

Now I'm left alone without you by my side

No voice except my own since you said goodbye

I don't know who you are anymore

Now I see you on the inside

Your heart of stone is lying on the floor

You thought you'd break me when you said goodbye

You want to hear me calling your name

But I'm not that desperate

I won't dial your number again

You're just another face that I'll forget

Just another choice that I regret
