Recognition

Recognition

A Poem by Somber Eyes

Looking in the past at the way you treated me

You always made sure I was kept in misery

You always kept yourself up on a higher level

Pretending you're an angel when you're really just the devil

I wish I knew back then how things would be today

I would have kept on walking, would have turned my head away

Would have left you in the past, saved myself for someone worthy

You took my soul and tainted it, I feel so f'n dirty

Look into my eyes, you won't see a single tear

I've come to grips with who I am and let go of my fear

All that kept me by your side was fear of isolation

And though I loved you I felt there was no reciprocation

If I see you on the street, I won't turn my head

I've nothing left to say to you, everything's been said

So I'll just keep on walking and pretend I didn't see you there

Because truth be told, when all is done, I really just don't care
