Arms Open Wide

Arms Open Wide

A Poem by Somber Eyes

I've been forsaken

My lifeblood taken

My soul's been taken so far away

Pushed down, broken

Left unspoken

Is this the price I have to pay?

So many times

You looked right in my eyes

But you didn't hear a single word I said

Too busy lying

And now I sit crying

As I lay here dying alone in this bed

You packed up your things

And said thanks for the fling

But the grass is greener on the other side

I'm calling out your name

But you no longer feel the same

And you're drifting away like the ebbing tide

And I'm looking like a fool with my arms open wide
