Too Great A Cost

Too Great A Cost

A Poem by Somber Eyes

Screaming out into the sky

Wondering if you'll hear my voice

Thinking “Do I have to die?”

Thinking “Do I have a choice?”

It could have ended so much better

We could have parted ways as friends

But to you it didn't matter

So this is how our story ends

I gave you everything you asked for

You never had to ask twice

All I asked for was your love

Was it such a heavy price?

I'm looking down upon my wrists

Wondering if this is just a phase

Hoping I can find the strength

To put down the razor blade
