Dreams

Dreams

A Poem by Somber Eyes

I see my dreams as they're laid out before me
I wonder if any of them will come true
I'm trying my hardest to steer my destiny
Doing my best to pull those dreams into view

I know deep inside that I have what it takes
I have the talent, but do I have a prayer
I can't find the path to where I need to go
I need to find a way to get myself there

The road is long and hard
And it may leave me bruised and scarred
But I will follow where it leads
And I'll fulfill my destiny

The road may take its toll
But if it brings me to my goal
Then I will gladly pay the price
For a piece of paradise

As each day goes by with my dreams unfulfilled
I see time's passage when I look in the mirror
As each day closes, another chance is lost
And I feel my last day as it quickly draws nearer

Sometimes I wish I was like the complacent
A sheep in the herd who does not dream of more
But I was born different, with dreams of tomorrow
And those dreams are more vivid than ever before

Our dreams are the most important things we have. Especially as writers or creative minds in general. They give us glimpses of things we can sometimes hardly understand, they create order in the chaos of our thoughts, they inspire, they give hope, and they fuel a longing desire to things far higher than ourselves. You capture those thoughts well and give us a glimpse into your mind, and in ways, to the minds of many poets. For are we not all dreamers? Thank you for sharing this, it was a pleasure to read ^^
