Mud and MoonA Poem by Soma-koPoem.A moonflower blooms under A broken palanquin, as people Gather among a tiny pond, just A few feet away, to write poetry About a young lily, who has begun To stretch her frail arms. The moonflower, gazes curiously Towards the huddle of people, who Praise the lily’s dainty palms, that Hide the mud beneath her body. A splendid moonflower, watches The brilliant lily yawn, feigning Beauty, and yet, he still admires Her dauntless bash smile. The moonflower, parched, stays Silent, as he listens to the people, And their renditions of the lily.
