Tiny Steps

Tiny Steps

A Poem by Soma-ko
"

A little on the dark side...

"

Can you hear the patter of a young child's feet,
As she skips through the marble halls that stretch forever?
Can you see the dampened trail of muddled tears and blood,
That mark her steps as she mindlessly moves forward?

The floors blend with the walls that encase her,
Like a snug sweater that chokes her soul
Suffocating the scattered memories she effortlessly lets go
So she can senselessly roam the path before her, empty

But free.

One step, then another. One day, then another.
One more thing, that can never be taken back.
One more scar, that marks her delicate skin.
One more footprint, that kisses the marble floor.

Can you hear the weeping little girl
Who cries alone, when no one is near?
Can you see the plastered mask she wears, with a crooked smile
As you pass her by, unnoticed.

Of course not.
I wouldn't either,
Because I don't care.
Because I don't know her.
