I Can Write

I Can Write

A Poem by John Dennis Gillespie
"

We can all write our way into history.

"

 I couldn't write and I wanted to.

I wrote anyway and decided to disregard the need for a topic.

I could write about writing.

I could write about dreams.

I could write about society.

However, everything I have ever thought about has been said or written.

I could write about how depressing it is that none of my ideas are my own.

I could write about how my life is not my own, but instead it is a tiny tug on a rope that every man holds.

I could write about how at how at the moment I pass away, it wouldn't be of any importance because someone is going to take my place in the line of life.

However, if I write enough that my impact leaves a void that difficult to replace,

I could write myself into history.
