Back to Back

Back to Back

A Poem by John Dennis Gillespie

Back to back we stand, but yet so far away.

You hold the hand of a man that you claim to love, but never do you claim not to love me.

Back to back we stand.

I hold hands with my new love you hold hands with your new man.

We are fixated in their eyes, but our minds are fixated on the things we've given up on.

Does true love have fate if faith is in it?

Will we ever understand the truth of what we had if we never try to finish?

Back to back we stand and the back of our brains.

Go insane.

With the thought of never feeling that feeling we felt before once again.

Oh this jealousy has swelled in me.

I envied him so much.

Never having what I needed only getting what I want.

Back to Back we stand thinking only about us and how recently is evident it's time we've given up.
