You get the feeling of BEING A CHOCOLATE BAR

A Poem by SoledadSamuels

You get the feeling of BEING A CHOCOLATE BAR. Someone eyes you in a candy shop, picks you up without reading your label. Takes you home, bites into you and is met with bittersweet, instead of sweet-sweet.

“She’s like the chocolate bunnies from last Easter you found in the back of your closet.”

“She’s NOT like grandma’s thick hot chocolate in front of a lit fireplace.”

“She’s not sweet-sweet.”

“She’s bittersweet.”

“Or, bitter-bitter”.

And they’ve had a bite that’s made them bitter.

And now they’re a bitter-biter.

"Do you feel bitter-bitter?"

"Are you a quitter?"

“Do you want to quit her?”
“I’d sure quit her.”

QUIT HER.
