Subtle WhispersA Poem by T.A.RogersSubtle WhispersSubtle whispers, the devil did speak Throughout the days, from week to week. Charmed, though I was but, wary, indeed Of consumption in spirit by evil's greed. A truth I hear, though a lie he tells Soon vexed am I by evil's spell. "Away with you," I say to him "Your sincerity feigned, your eternal din." A warming smile he gave upon baring fangs. My spirit spasmed in a woeful pang. Yet epiphany blossomed in my soul For I realized the true nature of my foe. Though underlying ferocity barely contained In clever ruses and solemnity feigned No authority has he but what I allocate So fear I dismiss for spiritual sake.
