A Poem by T.A.Rogers
"

Mirrored Images

"

Screams in the heart of a black soul,

Wounds torn into mentality,

Screams of innocence reverberate on.

All stereotypically bold.

All paranoid of reality.

None sing to the melody of a different song.

Freedom is a forbidden cliché

But time still tarries on.

Slowly does the pain pass by.

All stereotypically brave;

Seeing mirrored selves

But only seeing lies.

Typical is this mind frame

Found from shore to shore;

Found around the earth.

But it is too late when it does change,

For time shall tarry on.

Uniformness instilled into them from birth.

Singing the melody of a different song,

Painful as it sometimes is,

But always true happiness in the end.

Lies caress the hearts and minds

Of those not yet ripened on the tree:

Those who see themselves as a godsend.

Free will have we been dealt,

Only with binding conformity.

Become what the world demands.

Sadistic is this reality

That isn’t a happy reality.

Screams of innocence in burning hands.

Oppressed by conformity,

We still sing our own melody.

Unacceptable to peering eyes.

As waves wash upon the shore,

Though bleak they may be,

They never succeed, though they try.
