Curtain of SilenceA Poem by T.A.RogersCurtain of SilenceWith an iron fist do they rule And in fear none oppose. With shards of burning steel They vanquish mortal foes. An iron curtain has fallen And the day shines not through it. But none oppose for fear of those Who on the curtain sit. Darkness has fallen And the coldness fills our souls. Solitude is long forgotten. No triumph for the bold. As though cast into the lowly trench Where demons brood and spawn. Into a chasm of fear Where there never was a dawn. Tomorrows are uncertain Under today’s cloudy skies. Sleep comes not easy At the hands of watchful eyes. The blanket of mortal silence Lifts not off the world. One by one they bind us. Pity not for man nor girl.
