Father and FriendA Poem by Pierce AnthonyI wrote this for my dad on his birthday 9/11/12Awareness of our
separation is painful, Despite the
opportunities it presents. I recall feeling
love as a child, For you… and all,
it made sense.
I may not have
understood your point, But I tried in
light of what I knew. If I had the money
to travel, I’d be on my way
right now to see you.
It matters not the
mistakes that you’ve made, The order by which
your priorities behaved. Today, on this day,
I pray that you’re free, Free of the
influence of the mind’s animosity.
Remember that
curiosity is what got us this deep, It’s not a hole,
but the mountain can sure be steep. You can stop
learning, claiming that you’ve got it all figured out But to continue
growing is how treasure is really found.
I love you dad. © 2012 Pierce Anthony |
