The Forgotten EuologyA Poem by Saskia LiddickA poem I wrote for a contest, and after spending an hour listening to slam poetryThe Forgotten Euology It's kinda funny how easily God can pluck the memory of my first love. The sound and the way your feet kissed insides of my childhood memories. And it's funny how he could take away the image of your eyes, that smiled so bright, and grinned with all the colors of a rainbow after Hurricane Katrina left the world tattered. It's upsetting how God can so easily dismantle and leave a void of where you used to be. I hold on to the way your smile was just as colorful and cheery as the flowers on your grave, but even your pearly teeth and the smell of your Channel 12 perfume fades like a forest fire; dosed by the tears of your legacy, and yes, you too were out grown and forgotten. Just like the light up sneakers, the claire's makeup kits, and those college applications. It frustrates me that an entity so powerful and so great could rip your touch from me, along with the time you let me lick the bowl from the home made chocolate brownies. I still ask myself today, where has that beautiful grandma gone? That powerful woman, who was thrown to her knees, broken of her will, by a mysterious murderer who I thought, who I thought could never kill you. I thought you were immortal, you were my superwoman. But Breast Cancer is the culprit, and the culprit slipped away into the world of science. like the bathwater when I cried for you when I learned you had left me behind. I cried when I found that God, God who was so powerful, God so loving, so easily took you. Away.
