For the First Time

For the First Time

A Poem by Saskia Liddick

For the First Time

By Saskia Liddick

For the first time,

Someone's  devotion isn't terrifying.

For the first time,

Love isn't a haunting illness or syndrome.

For the first time,

A man's hand touching mine is a riveting sensation.
For the first time,

I can feel full of mischief and it can feel right.

For the first time,

Those joking innuendos can be based on truth.

For the first time,

I can inscribe my love somewhere other than my mind.

For the first time,

I'm willing to face the world.

For the first time,

My life doesn't feel so tortureous.

For the first time,

The touch of your hand is a benediction.

For the first time,

Love doesn't seem like an illusion.

For the first time,

Loving someone isn't an intrusion.

Because for the first time,
I'm in love.

This is beautifully written how we feel when we fall in love for the first time. I love how you wrote this poem and I love the ending most of all.
