The Fireflies Remind Me

By Saskia Liddick

A)    The Fireflies reminded me of you.

B) As I sat underneath a midnight sky.

B) As I contemplated exactly why.

A) The Fireflies reminded me of you.

A) They must have reminded me it was true.

B) You were outgoing with a tinge of shy.

B) You were my everything, my apple pie.

A) And that’s how they reminded me of you.

C) And as you left me on that autumn day.

D) The Fireflies told me to just move on.
C) The Fireflies make my nights feel okay.

D) The Fireflies occupy me ‘till dawn.

C) I always tell them, “Please don’t go away

D) you will help me forget that he is gone.”

Poem was excellent. Your story and movement of words were very good. I like the feel and the description in your words. Loneliness and a quiet night with the fireflies create time to be able to think.
