The Love Ballads

The Love Ballads

A Poem by Saskia Liddick
"

Some love poems I wrote in class today. They are all for the same person I've had a crush on for about a year. I had to get it out.

"

If you loved me
Saskia Liddick

If you loved me, my life would be wonderful.

The birds of song would be such a blessing,

the sunset would only be a shadow to you.

Your words would be the strongest sensation.

If you loved me.

If you loved me, I wouldn’t know suffering.

If you loved me, you would be my pearl.

Perfect, bright, flawless, and a blessing.

I would never have found your equal.

If you loved me.

If you loved me, I would be beautiful.

You wouldn’t care if I were ugly today.

You’d smile at me when I’m not okay.

You’d whisper ‘beautiful’ when I didn’t feel it.

If you’d love me, I’d love you.

Once bitten, Twice shy

Saskia Liddick

Once bitten, twice shy, trice longing for his feel.

I want it, I need it, oh, how it makes me reel.

Come on Reality, please set quickly in.

Save me from the ecstasy and the sin.

I want him, I need him, I love him.

So sweet, so kind, so fun, so handsome.

He hurt me once, I felt more pain than I knew I could.

Oh no, it back, the feeling coursing in my blood.

Make me lose the lust for him, I pray to God above.

Please make it stop, I can’t afford to be in love.

He didn’t mean it I know, didn’t mean to make me cry.

I still want him, still love him, still need to make him mine.

Do You?

Saskia Liddick

Do you want to make me cry?

Or do you want to see me smile?

Are you intent on seeing me upset?

Or is my joy your energy instead?

The Vow

Saskia Liddick

Do you love me like I love you?

Or have the lucky ones ruined you?

Am I too late to have your affection?

Or will you fight to find trust in me?

I would strive to see you smile.

I’d work for your eyes to sparkle.

I’d never want to see you cry.

I would keep you safe in my heart.

If you loved me, you’d never cry.

The bruises of your past would only be a dream.

You would be handsome, happy, and loved

If you loved me, if you loved me.

Author's Note

Saskia Liddick
These are poems dedicated to a boy I had a crush on a few months back. I've been too scared to say anything naturally. During the school dance he asked me too, he confessed that if he didn't have so many problems with trusting girls in relationships and other issues, he would have wanted to start something with me. For a while I thought it could happen if I helped him, but that went away. Still, hope is a deadly virtue. (I don't know why '/' keeps coming up in my sentences, my computer is weird.)

Without hope we would be a sad bunch of humans. My young days. Most beautiful woman on the Army post. I would wait and eat lunch with her. She asks me for a date one day. She ask me why didn't I ask her? I told her she was so beautiful. I wasn't good enough for her. We travel the coastline of California for years. Built a friendship and love. Your poem is very good. I like the structure you used. Take no chances. Have no fun.
