Mommy, What’s It Like?
By Saskia Liddick
Mommy what’s it like out there?
Do people smile at each other on the street?
Do they greet every person that they meet?
Mommy, what’s it like out there?
Mommy, is it true?
The president doesn’t need a guard,
Because everyone loves him and won’t hurt him?
Mommy, is it true?
Mommy, what’s it like out there?
Do people love each other all the same?
Skin color doesn’t matter in anyway?
Mommy, what’s it like out there?
Mommy, say its true!
There is not such thing as disease,
Just that one thing will appease,
Mommy, say its true!
Mommy, tell me please!
That all the roads are pristine,
There are no dirty places to clean.
Mommy, tell me please!
Mommy, I want to know.
Or are there people, who walk the streets,
And kill others because opinions will not meet?
Mommy, I want to know.
Mommy, talk to me!
Do people hate each other clandestinely?
Because they hate you we can’t be a family?
Mommy, talk to me!
Mommy, tell me honestly.
Will we live where war is a way of life?
Will we live where there is death and strife?
Mommy, tell me honestly.
Mommy, please answer me,
Tell me that a solider didn’t slaughter you,
Because you think that God is true.
Mommy, why aren’t you answering?
