Jemima's Ballad

Jemima's Ballad

A Poem by Saskia Liddick
"

The Story of the Dead Lover named Jemima. It's not really a Ballad, but it sounded like a nice title.

Jemima’s Ballad
By Saskia Liddick

She was the morning star in his night sky
He was the burning fire in her night
She was the apple of his bright red eyes
He was her inspiration and her light
Yet Heaven said they weren’t meant to be.
Jemima was his joy and elation
It was that night’s fate they both failed to see
So they were destined for separation
It was a summer night out on the beach
Angels came and swept Jemima away
The spirits turned deaf ears to his beseech
So here ended a lover’s life today
And still the years pass as he wonders why
Oh, why did his Jemima have to die?

A outstanding poem. Strong words brought me into your words. Joy then sadness was the feel of your very good poem. Thank you.
